The first thing I ever noticed about Piper Prinzi was her beautiful, bright eyes and radiant smile. But, very shortly after this first impression, I was swept away by Piper’s sincerity and heart.
Piper is elegance personified.
I quickly learned about her love for Mary Kay – a passionate career and purpose 34 years in the making for Piper. As a former Avon salesperson myself, I was interested to hear how Mary Kay stands apart. She proudly educated me on the three pillars of the business – faith first, family second, career third.
“My focus is on finding a need and filling it,” she said, ’while reminding women that God made them beautiful...I just get to keep them that way! What started as a side gig has evolved over my 34 years into a calling. Truly it's makeup & ministry. I love the personal growth, flexibility, and income my biz has provided.”
“Finding a need and filling it” is not just something Piper says; she literally seeks out need and does her best to help by putting a great deal of her focus on community and charity. In addition to eagerly supporting causes for pets, veterans, and children, she is also an Ambassador for the Mary Kay Charitable Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for cancers affecting women and irradicating domestic violence. As part of her desire to give back, Piper also works tirelessly to help encourage and inspire the women she meets through her Legacy Changers program. It is her goal to pamper 100 women and feature their stories on her social media.
Not only did Piper’s “side gig” lead to an inspiring career and a devotion to charitable causes, but it was a Mary Kay delivery to a local business that led Piper to meet Lou, her wonderful husband of 30 years. I felt a kinship with Piper and Lou, who say they respect each other too much to ever let a disagreement escalate into an argument.
One Saturday in February, the three of us enjoyed a lovely Chicken Ceasar Salad in their beautiful home, complete with amazing mini sugar-free cheesecakes made by Lou, who enjoys baking in his retirement. Their love, respect, and admiration for each other is not only apparent, but simply lovely.
As lunch concluded, Piper led me to her immaculate home office for an incredible pampering session. The organized space – with its high white cabinetry and pink-and-rhinestone accents – screams efficiency, elegance, and femininity – just like the lady who works there. We sit at a table and chat as Piper introduces me to the wonders of Mary Kay. Her patience with my endless questions and her kindness with my insecurities are unprecedented.
At first, as she tells me I’m beautiful, I shy away from the compliment – uncomfortable being regarded as such without my full mask of makeup. But, as we apply cleansers and moisturizers, I begin to let my guard down and, by the time we’ve applied a fair cream-to-powder concealer – I feel a bit more comfortable as she compliments, encourages, and lifts me up.
As an afterthought, I asked Piper what she would name her autobiography. "Hmmmm.... That's a deep question!" She replied, "Probably 'God's Grace In Spite of Me'." A beauitful, deep, thought provoking title from an equally beautiful, deep, thought provoking woman!
